Observer Apex can be deployed as a stand-alone hardware unit, in combination with Observer Analyzer Suite, or as part of a larger Observer Performance Management Platform deployment.
As a key component of the Observer Performance Management Platform, Apex collects metadata from multiple devices deployed across the network, including Analyzers (Expert Edition and Suite), GigaStor appliances, Probes, and Observer Infrastructure. The data is aggregated and analyzed to provide integrated views of network, application, and device health across the entire organization.
Analyzer - is essential for trobleshooting and analizing, network performance, application performance, service assurance, UC deployment, complex VM environments and cloud computing.
The Observer Analyzer software is most frequently deployed on a network engineerís laptop and used for diverse purposes like connecting to Observer GigaStor and probes; acquiring data via local interfaces like wireless and Gigabit cards; and providing advanced Expert Analysis to packet captures acquired by third party devices. Additionally, some organizations may choose a centrally deployed Analyzer Suite for ongoing trending-data monitoring and analysis or the processing of alarms and alerts.
Observer's Expert Analysis looks deep into your network with itís enhanced version of protocol analysis. By providing drill-down functionality into network problems. Observer also provides timely analysis with Web trending reports, alarms, and application and server analysis. Expert features have many capabilities found in very specialized tools including application analysis, multi-hop analysis, TCP Stream reconstruction and comprehensive VoIP analysis.
Observer Analyzer offers three product options based on features and functionality levels. They are Standard, Expert and Suite with Suite having all available features and fuctionality.
GigaStor plays a significant role for transaction-heavy organizations in data mining, network forensics, and data retention compliance.
The undisputed leader in retrospective network analysis (RNA), GigaStor eliminates the time-consuming task of recreating problems for troubleshooting. Just hit rewind to go back in time and review past network activity. Then navigate to the exact moment a problem occurred and see detailed packet-level views before, during, and after an issue occurrence.
Infrastructure - Deep Monitoring & Proactive Management
Using multiple strategic methods, Observer Infrastructure easily quantifies thousands of critical metrics. Simply supply IP addresses and proper credentials and from that point forward, it's automatic and ongoing. No user input is required to get actionable information.
When Apex is used with OI and GigaStor, you have even greater management IQ, including the ability to find the connection between seemingly unrelated service events. For example, if end users complain of poor response time, the Apex dashboard may show degraded server health. But if you drill down with Observer Infrastructure and find that your servers show excessive CPU utilization Ė the root cause of the problem.
Management Server - EnterpriseWide Authentication, Authorization, and Auditing Accomplish more and improve performance in less time with the Observer Management Server.
Observer Management Server (OMS) supports deployments of the Observer Platform with centralized authentication, authorization, and auditing (AAA). Manage AAA to all of your network assets with drag-and-drop functionality on an easy, highly visual control interface. Add, change, or delete users with a click of the mouse while safeguarding sensitive user data in transit with TLS-based communication security.
Matrix - Network Monitoring Switch is the perfect device to enhance the power of your monitoring appliances
Observer Matrix switch was wesigned from the ground-up, the Matrix uses a modern HTML5 GUI and the best underlying hardware technology for optimal ease of use and performance. Stop compromising simple configurability or giving up on powerful switch features and functionality. With Matrix quickly leverage all your legacy monitoring tools, and get the right data to the right tool in a timely manner.
TAP's - A network TAP (Test Access Point) is a hardware device which provides a way to access the data (packets) moving across a network segment.
Network taps are used with network monitoring and collection devices, such as intrusion detection systems, protocol analyzers, VoIP analyzers, network probes and RMON probes that require access to the packets on a network segment. Observer TAP's are designed for copper, optical fiber, or conversion between the two media. Tap's are as either full-duplex or as an aggregator to half-duplex.
Probes - Whether your network stretches across the building or the globe, Observer Probe appliances cover your edge and remote network sites with advanced analysis technologies.
They aggregate information across network sites near and far ó extending your reach without sacrificing monitoring integrity. Observer Probes are part of the Observer Performance Management Platform. They work with Analyzer consoles for analysis and Apex for high-level performance visibility.
The Observer product line was originally developed by Network Instruments and now is part of a broader solution that have been combined with JDSU products delivering end to end visibility of the network.
